“City Country Hunger?” (Stadt Land Hunger?)

slh_postkarte_webFor many of us food is an every day thing. We rarely think about how our food is produced; under which conditions plants and animals grow; who makes a profit. That needs to change! To make the right changes for a sustainable future, we need to know about alternative actions and understand complex links. That is why “Stadt Land Hunger?” is all about food and food security.

Nonetheless, food and where it comes from, is something we can all relate to. Whether it’s monotonouse fields we see everywhere outside cities, gardens, shopping at a discount store or the local greengrocer. Every one of use has some experience how food is produced, from a potato patch in the garden to a basil plant on the window sill.

But how do you feed an ever-growing world population, while resources dwindle? What does the future of agriculture, food production and trade look like? We are looking at different cultivation techniques, the trading of food at the stock market and future challenges to global food security & sovereignty.

Our own lifestyles are just as important in this context as for example climate change or the handling and the trade of food resources? That’s why food security isn’t just a local but a global issue.
